LEAF Annual CelebrationLEAF's Annual Celebration

An event this big only happens once a year.  Celebrating our and reflecting on each successful year, the Annual Celebration welcomes our partners, supporters, friends, and volunteers to enjoy themselves at a party for the urban forest.  2010's Annual Celebration saw over 300 people fill the Artscape Wychwood Barns to listen to the music of Wilderness of Manitoba and Forest City Lovers.  The centrepiece of the evening was the stunning collection of photographs by Vincenzo Pietropaolo, an award winning photographer.  The Toronto Tree Portraits shared the stories of some of Toronto's most notable citizens and the trees they love the most.  A special thanks goes out to our event sponsors Mill St., Artscape, Goodwill, Sheridan Nurseries, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Urban Tree Salvage, and Eurofab

Toronto Tree Portraits ExhibitionToronto Tree Portraits

A select group of respected Torontonians – ranging from artists and filmmakers to community activists and media personalities – have chosen the featured trees as the ones they feel closest to in the city. Their stories bring the viewer through an exploration of how trees relate to their personal sense of belonging, diversity, community building, and heritage preservation. Vincenzo’s work illustrates the deep connection as well as the personal relationships that exist between Torontonians and their trees.

This public exhibition will ran from July 12 to August 18 at the Side Space Gallery.

Editions of each print are still available.  All funds from the sale of each piece go towards LEAF’s planting, education and training initiatives.
