We make it easy to plant native shrubs, cedars and pawpaw trees on private properties to enhance biodiversity, brighten up your space and support native wildlife and pollinators. Edible species provide a local food source in an urban environment, offering a great opportunity to promote food security and share with your community. Native Garden Kits Announcement

Since 2011, LEAF has offered Native Garden Kits, which included a curated selection of native herbaceous perennials and shrubs that residents could purchase, with several different themes and sizes. LEAF has decided to discontinue the sale of our Native Garden Kits following a thorough review of internal and external factors.

The good news is that there are now many more sources of native perennials available to the public than when we began offering the kits many years ago!

Native Shrubs

Ordering Native Shrubs

Enhance biodiversity, brighten up your space and support wildlife and pollinators by planting native shrubs through LEAF.

  • We offer a diverse selection of native species.
  • All shrubs are for delivery, unless ordered during a consultation. Learn more about our planting services here.
  • Shrubs are $30 +HST each (species availability may vary seasonally).
  • Shrubs are one to two feet in height at the time of delivery.
  • Mulch and a Planting and Care Guide included with every order.
  • Delivery is included for orders of four or more shrubs (for orders of three or fewer shrubs, a delivery fee of $25 +HST per order applies).

Delivery Information:

  • Depending on when your order is placed, we will deliver your shrubs in either our spring or fall season:
    • Spring deliveries begin in April and continue through to the end of June
    • Fall deliveries begin in September and continue through to the end of November
  • Your delivery could take place at any point during these three-month periods; however, we will notify you two business days prior to your delivery date
  • To maintain efficient delivery routes, we are unable to accommodate any scheduling requests
  • You do not need to be home on the day of delivery, as long as we can access your property to leave your items in a secure location

Shrub Bundles

Shrub bundles are designed to help you beautify your yard with ease! Create your own shrub bundle by selecting any four native shrubs from our species offered list (species availability may vary seasonally). 

Shrub bundles will be delivered to your door with mulch and a Planting and Care Guide for only $100 + HST- that's four shrubs for the price of three!

When you purchase a themed bundle, you will receive a specialized fact sheet packed with theme-tailored gardening tips!

Shrub Bundle Themes:

Butterfly Bundles are designed to provide habitat and food for native butterflies. Chose from the following species:

arrowwood, eastern redbud *, grey dogwood, highbush cranberry, lowbush blueberry, meadowsweet, nannyberry, northern wild raisin, pagoda dogwood, pussy willow, red osier dogwood, serviceberry, spicebush

Edible Bundles are designed to help you create your own edible urban garden. Chose from the following species:

American hazelnut, black chokeberry, elderberry, highbush cranberry, lowbush blueberry, nannyberry, northern wild raisin, pasture rose, purple flowering raspberry, serviceberry

Native Bee Bundles are designed to provide habitat and food for native bees. Chose from the following species:

arrowwood, bush honeysuckle, eastern redbud *, fragrant sumac, grey dogwood, meadowsweet, Pagoda dogwood, pasture rose, pussy willow, snowberry, St. John’s wort

Privacy Bundles are designed to help you attain privacy while also enhancing biodiversity. Chose from the following species:

American hazelnut, arrowwood, bayberry, black chokeberry, common ninebark, elderberry, highbush cranberry, meadowsweet, red osier dogwood, spicebush

Shade Bundles are designed for shady areas in your yard. Chose from the following species:

eastern redbud *, fragrant sumac, northern wild raisin, pagoda dogwood, purple flowering raspberry, snowberry

Small Yard Bundles are designed for smaller spaces while also enhancing biodiversity. Chose from the following species:

bush honeysuckle, lowbush blueberry, meadowsweet, snowberry, St. John’s wort

Songbird Bundles are designed to provide habitat and food for songbirds throughout the year. Chose from the following species:

Cedars

Ordering Cedars

The eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) is an evergreen species often planted to create privacy. It also offers a multitude of benefits to wildlife. 

  • Learn more about the eastern white cedar.
  • All cedars are for delivery, unless ordered during a consultation. Learn more about our planting services here.
  • Cedars are $50 +HST each (availability may vary seasonally).
  • Cedars are two to four feet in height at the time of delivery.
  • Mulch and a Planting and Care Guide included with every order.
  • Delivery is included for orders of four or more cedars (for orders of three or fewer cedars, a delivery fee of $25 +HST per order applies).

Pawpaws

Ordering Pawpaws

Pawpaws are unique native trees that produce beautiful purple flowers in the spring and a delicious fruit that tastes like a cross between banana and mango. Pawpaws are sold in pairs for cross-pollination and do best when planted in locations with partial to full shade and well-drained soil.

Pawpaws are available for spring delivery only and are $150 (+HST) per pair

Trees are two to three feet in height at the time of delivery.
