Presentations, Workshops and Tree Tours
Presentations
Held indoors or virtually for groups, ages 18 and up, that have an interest in urban forests and tree-related topics. Presentations are usually 60 minutes in length, including time for questions. Presentation topics include:
- Benefits of the Urban Forest – delve into the benefits and services that the urban forest provides
- Climate Change and the Urban Forest – understand what climate change is and how it shapes the urban forest
- Economic Value of Trees – discover how valuable trees are from an economic standpoint
- Health Benefit of Trees – explore all the ways trees support our health
- Tree Equity – unpack the urban forest through an equity lens and hear about strategies that seek to address the tree gap
- Tree Selection, Planting and Care – learn what species are suitable under what conditions and proper planting and care techniques. This requires an hour of speaking.
We may be able to incorporate other content into an existing presentation. If you have another topic you’re interested in learning about, please let us know.
The fee varies depending on the type of presentation delivered (Additional fees may apply for requests outside our service area):
- In-person: $350.00 + HST
- Virtual (Host Group manages virtual platform): $250.00 + HST
- Virtual (LEAF to manage virtual platform and deliver the presentation): $300.00 + HST
We require a minimum of six weeks to review and plan for a presentation, workshop or tour. Requests will be accepted based on availability and capacity.
Workshops
Our workshops offer a combination of indoor and hands-on learning in-person or virtually for groups, ages 18 and up. Workshops are usually 60 to 90 minutes in length. Workshop topics include:
- Designing the Urban Forest in Your Backyard: can be done indoors or outdoors. This topic includes a presentation with a design activity
- Tree Care: can be indoors or outdoors. This topic includes a presentation with a mulching activity
We may be able to incorporate other content into an existing presentation. If you have another topic you’re interested in learning about, please let us know.

- In-person: $500.00 + HST
- Virtual (Host Group manages virtual platform): $300.00 + HST
- Virtual (LEAF to manage virtual platform and deliver the workshop): $400.00 + HST
We require a minimum of six weeks to review and plan for a presentation, workshop or tour. Requests will be accepted based on availability and capacity.
Tree Tours
Our tree tours highlight the captivating trees and natural features of a particular neighbourhood. We offer a 90 minute in-person guided walk for a group of 35 people maximum, or a virtual place-based PowerPoint presentation with no cap on attendance. Our tours focus on tree identification and fun facts of the species found on-site.
The fee varies depending on the type of tour delivered (Additional fees may apply for requests outside our service area):
- In-person: $500.00 + HST
- Virtual (Host Group manages virtual platform): $450.00 + HST
- Virtual (LEAF to manage virtual platform and deliver the tree tour): $475.00 + HST
We require a minimum of six weeks to review and plan for a presentation, workshop or tour. Requests will be accepted based on availability and capacity.
The Lake Wilcox Park Self-Guided Tree Tour was developed by LEAF in partnership with the City of Richmond Hill and funded by TD Friends of the Environment Fund.
