Right now, we are offering an extra bonus to York Region property owners who are replacing dying, dead or removed ash trees impacted by the emerald ash borer (EAB). This means that if you live in Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan or Whitchurch-Stouffville, you may be eligible for this rebate.

Program information:
- Full Service Tree Planting program: Trees are priced from $150 to $220 (price varies based on species selected). Program highlights: an in-person, on-site 30-minute arborist consultation plus we deliver and plant the tree(s)!
- Do-It-Yourself Tree Planting program: Trees are priced from $100 - $170 (price varies based on species selected). Program highlights: a virtual 30-minute arborist consultation plus we deliver the tree(s) and you plant!
- Limit of five Emerald Ash Borer Rebates per property.
- Limited total number of Emerald Ash Borer Rebates available, so rebates are issued on a first come, first served basis.
- Please contact your local municipality before cutting any trees on your property. Many local municipalities have tree by-laws that regulate the removal of single trees from private property.
- If the ash tree has already been removed, a copy of the tree removal invoice will be required to qualify for the rebate. If you do not have the invoice, please contact us for other acceptable forms of proof.
Losing ash trees in your woodlot?
The LEAF Backyard Tree Planting program does not apply to woodlot replanting.
- York Region provides guidance for woodlot owners facing EAB impacts and also for general woodlot management. If you are a landowner in York Region and have ash trees in your woodlot, contact Forests Ontario to determine the best way to manage the impacts of EAB while ensuring your woodlot stays healthy and diverse. York Region’s Forest Conservation Bylaw protects forests in York Region.
