The sun was out and music soared over the crowd where families and local community members gathered to enjoy all that the Festival had to offer. Many local businesses were in attendance along with a number of environmental exhibitors who showed up to spread the word about their exciting work! Kids at the festival kept busy with a variety of activities including nature-themed crafts, face painting, and even a climbing wall (thanks to the support of Streetcar)!
Check out some of my favourite memories from the Festival:
Janet McKay of LEAF, TDSB Trustee Jennifer Story and Councillor Paula Fletcher plant a new tree which will surely SPRUCE up the park!
Councilor Paula Fletcher and Barkley got their boogie on to the Toronto All-Star Big Band.
Not Far From the Tree was in attendance and eager to share stories about their first pick of the season!
The David Suzuki Foundation was in the park chatting with festival attendees about their Butterfly Way Project and offering kids the chance to make seed bombs!
The City of Toronto Forestry Department got a kick out of these punny signs!
Our Marketing and Education Assistant, Rachel Marcus, was promoting our new campaign in partnership with Toronto Wildlife Centre and Ontario Power Generation to spread the word on ways that you can maximize your #BackyardBiodiversity.
A great big thank you to our event partners – Councillor Paula Fletcher and Parks, Forestry and Recreation – we couldn’t do it without you! Thanks also to event supporters Tango Palace, Ralph Thornton Centre, and Canadian Tire, as well as all of the performers, exhibitors, staff and volunteers that helped make the day a great success!
