#33Reasons to Vote for LEAF

With your support, encouragement, and on the ground efforts we've been voted Toronto’s Best Activist Organization in Now Magazine for the past two years. Once again, we are amongst some amazing nominees, but we want you to help us defend the title!

In my mind, the most powerful thing LEAF does is change the way we view our urban spaces - making the city’s neglected nooks and crannies, as well as backyards, beautiful and functional.

Next Wednesday, on the second National Tree Day, we will bring the first official Depave Paradise project to Toronto, saving trees by taking up paving stones and replacing them with soil and native plants. As the tree roots get a fresh breath of air, so will the neighbourhood.

But that is just one of the many ongoing projects we are leading to empower residents and build a stronger, healthier urban forest to benefit all of Toronto. And that’s why we're asking for your vote.

Over the next 33 days we are going to give you 33 reasons to vote LEAF as Toronto’s Best Activist Organization for the third year in a row. These will come from our staff and volunteers working out in the streets on behalf of Toronto’s urban forest. We'll be posting the series through social media, so follow us on Facebook and Twitter

And we also want to hear from you, our fans and supporters, in your own words. Why do you think we should hold on to the title? Share a photo, a short anecdote or a story.

Now Magazine said "preserving and enhancing the city’s greenery" is what we’re best at. But we want to get more specific. Have we helped transform your backyard?  Or inspired you to defend the trees on your block? We’re excited to launch this campaign. And I can't wait to hear what you think we do best.
