LEAF Course Teaches Volunteers How to Identify and Care for Trees

Instructors of LEAF’s Tree Tenders Volunteer Training program will take residents of York Region through the tree identification component of this interactive course on Saturday June 8 from 1:15 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. During the outdoor walk-and-learn (2:15 – 3:15 p.m.), Gaspar Horvath will discuss basic tree classifications and how to identify them by features, site, and habitat. Graduates of the course will walk away with simple tips and tricks to identify common trees in our urban forests.
Gaspar has over 30 years of experience of international forestry having travelled, worked and planted trees across Canada, New Zealand, the USA and Mexico. The full Tree Tenders Volunteer Training course consists of three sessions covering topics ranging from tree biology and care to municipal bylaws and how to get involved in urban forest issues.
