(May 17, 2016) This spring, LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests) is celebrating 20 years of offering its subsidized Backyard Tree Planting Program in Toronto. To mark this special milestone, the non-profit organization has launched a new Commemoration Program that recognizes significant occasions in a unique, eco-friendly fashion.

Through the Commemoration Program, you can help support the urban forest while honouring special events or people in your life. Leave a living legacy to celebrate the joyous occasion of a wedding, graduation, or birth, or to memorialize the life of a loved one.

How it Works:

Make a minimum $150 donation to LEAF’s Urban Forest Fund and receive an elegant, personalized certificate that recognizes your special event or pays tribute to a loved one.  The certificate can be displayed at ceremonial / celebratory events as appropriate.

Optional Tree Planting and Seed Packets

Tree Planting: Your tree will be planted through LEAF’s Backyard Tree Planting Program on any eligible property where LEAF programs are offered (Toronto, York Region or Ajax), and your certificate will include mention that a tree will be planted in celebration of your event or in memory of your loved one. One tree can be planted for approximately $200 +HST - this includes tree, delivery, planting and care instructions.

Wildflower Seed Packets: Suitable as a wedding favour or memorial gift, these tasteful envelopes of native seeds give your guests a living memento. Seed packets cost $1 + HST each, and include space for you to insert a personalized message.
