Meet directly South of Grenadier Restaurant, at the benches at the intersection of West Road and Colborne Lodge Drive. (MAP)

 Join us this fall for an inspirational session, exploring ways to portray the splendour of trees in the beautiful setting of High Park. Students will learn the methods used by artists for drawing realistic trees along with techniques in line work and shading to depict texture. Draw at your own pace and support and constructive feedback from our experienced instructor.

All skill levels are welcome. Participants must bring their own supplies.

Suggested supplies:

- folding chair or stool
- apporximately 9x12 inch artist quality sketchbook
- graphite pencils (H, HB, 2HB)
- kneaded eraser, pencil sharpener
- water, snacks, sunscreen, hat


Accessibility Information

The workshop will involve walking in the park on paved pathways and relatively smooth, grassy areas until participants arrive at the drawing spot.  For accessibility questions please contact us


Instructor Bio

Alan Li studied figure drawing, perspective and hand drawn animation at Sheridan College. After graduating, he spent three years travelling to primate sanctuaries to draw chimpanzees and orangutans followed by six years of animating children's television programs. Alan currently pursues his own art projects, teaches workshops and keeps busy collaborating with grass-root environmental groups. He supports conservation efforts through the sale of his artwork and is active in volunteering.
